Last night I had the absolute pleasure of going to a talk by the artist Ben Quilty. Quilty is an Australian artist who in 2011 won the Archibald Prize and went to Afghanistan as the Official War Artist of the Australian troops. He focuses on the experience on the young troops, the direct effects of them after their experiences. The paintings that Quilty produced are raw and emotional images.
