CSR. Corporate Social Responsibility

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development defines CSR as “the continuing commitment by businesses to contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the community and society at large.”

Expectations on businesses have never been higher. In today’s economic times and with the current level of public and media scrutiny of companies’ activities, exacerbated by social media, companies are under pressure to be more accountable – to ‘give back’, by contributing positively to the communities in which they operate, thereby achieving a greater balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives. This pressure is also coming from other stakeholders:

  • Investors, who are increasing evaluating companies’ environmental, social and governance performance;
  • Employees, with the younger generation of the workforce, in particular, looking for roles with companies whose values match their own; and
  • Clients, who are expecting their service providers to be responsible in all areas of their operations.

These stakeholders are looking for companies to have active CSR policies in place and are expecting to see a real commitment from them to making a positive contribution to their local communities.

How Can Hong Kong Art Tutoring Help?

HKAT can work with you to design events and activities that will help to demonstrate your commitment to CSR and to your local community.

We have connections with local NGOs, schools and community centres or can work with your selected partners, building on and deepening your existing relationships.

Events and activities will be art related, and can range from one off events, such as painting murals for the dormitories in an orphanage, a recent event we designed, to more sustainable programmes, such as the sponsorship of art lessons for underserved parts of the community, thereby promoting creativity in the sectors of Hong Kong that need it most.

All events and activities will be facilitated and are scalable, allowing for small or large groups to take part. We are also happy to help you measure the outcome of the event or activity so that you can see the impact that your CSR activities are having.
