Gail Deayton is a practising artist and specialist art educator with over 30 years of experience teaching young creatives aged 10–18.
Having lived in Hong Kong and across Asia for nearly thirty years, her own personal artistic practice explores the interaction between culture, landscape and tradition through line, form and movement. Her work ranges from large-scale contemporary pieces to smaller, more delicate sculptural and print forms.
Gail’s sculptures, drawings and prints are held in private collections internationally and have been commissioned by leading corporate clients in Hong Kong, including Amber at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, The St. Regis Shenzhen, and international law firms Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer and DLA Piper.
Alongside her professional practice, Gail has taught in many Art & Design departments in several international schools, writing curriculum and moderating exam criteria in tertiary education.
In 2012 she established Hong Kong Art Tutoring LTD, she she guides both students and adults in developing their creative skills and way of design thinking.

Gail’s passion for teaching is shaped by both her professional artistic practice and her deep understanding of academic assessment. She believes art is a self-driven subject — one where students develop their own voice, explore ideas that matter to them, and learn to think independently rather than follow prescribed formulas.
Students are guided through a structured process that builds technical foundations, strengthens conceptual development and demonstrates clear evidence of thinking. Whether preparing for IB, GCSE, A-Level, AP or portfolio applications, they learn how to develop ideas sequentially, refine outcomes thoughtfully, and present work with confidence and clarity.
The result is artwork that is not only exam-ready, but personally meaningful — helping students grow as capable, self-motivated and critically engaged young creatives.
